Pemmicans have been used by indigenous peoples in North America for generations. Considered the “original survival food”, they were traditionally made with a mixture of dried meats, berries and rendered fat. Because they were so high in protein and nutrient-dense, they were perfect for taking on long journeys. In the 18th and 19th centuries, fur-traders took them as provisions when traveling throughout the Plains regions of the United States where food, especially in the wintertime, could be scarce.
Our pemmicans are not mixed with fat like the traditional ones, but they are a great high-energy, nutrient-dense treat for your dog. Perfect for “long journeys” through the woods, hunting or taking on a hike. They are packed with loads of nutritious vegetables, fruits and high-quality meat. Don’t head to the woods without them. Your dog will thank you!
